MIGRATION

Newcomer Blacks face various Migration/ Integration issues which have an impact on their economic, social, psychological, and physical health. These issues include; Unfamiliarity with Canadian laws (basic Canadian laws, individuals’ rights, customs and norms, self-reported discrimination), Inefficient communication from government and government agencies, Limited connections for help, Racial discrimination, Limited access to healthcare, Housing issues and conditions (housing affordability, stability, safety, and security of tenure),

AYGF has been at the forefront in the fight against irregular migration for over 17 years. The organization is aware of the rate of Africans migrating to Canada, even by the day.

According to Statistics Canada 2022, the Black population now accounts for 3.5% of Canada’s total population and 15.6% of the population defined as a visible minority. This is proof of the fast rate of migration of Africans into Canada.
